uh oh. i think i might start getting a tad addicted to this thing. although, for all my friends in vancouver, you know how my illustrious running career faired as i blogged about that experience as well (you'll have to navigate your way to the blog bit of that site... this was a while ago).

my buddy maureen posted a comment on my facebook page when i basically told people that the trip was definitely a go...

... i didn't clue into what she meant until i was back in vancouver talking to some buddies about their europe trip, and they said "whatever you pack clothes wise, cut it in half, and bring twice as much money. you never need as much as you pack, and you never have enough money". then the lightbulb went on, and i realised what maureen was on about. she also tried to re-explain it to me in haiku form. she rocks. i was a little slow over reading week...

anyways, i started doing a bit of research into some logistics and was originally thinking eurorail would be the best bet, but then found out (after rich had told me about his sisters travels) that ryanair has some ridonk cheap fares all over europe. as a result, we're probably gonna sit down and maybe figure out some scheduling so we can book a few flights in advance and take advantage of the fares (or lack thereof).

my parents also told me about a tonne of cool stuff they did in europe back in the day when they lived in england, so i'll probably try to check out some of those sights. in particular they mentioned florence and some place in switzerland called lucerne. that actually fits quite nicely with an idea that my brother dave had and also what andree expressed in... a camping trip in the swiss alps... hells yeah.

the jungfrau region in switzerland... i am way too excited for this. ahhh mountains...

hello world.

meet the main travelling circus for this summer's european extravaganza (from left to right) steve nusbaum, me (steve ng) and rich pak.

we are currently in "planning" mode for the trip, and i use quotation marks because the first time we tried to meet, we just got drunk instead. is this a sign of things to come? no. and when i say "no", i mean maybe. and when i say "maybe", i mean very likely.

we have thus far booked our flights into europe (via paris to meet up with the very lovely andree st.germain who will join us for a few weekends of travel) and nusbaum was the first to fall prey to the craftiness inherent in all of rich's and my bretheren - nusbaum (the biggest guy out of all of us... although not the biggest steve in the program... another story for a later time) is sitting bitch for the flight to paris.

i am currently trying to recruit peeps to join up with us on our travels and so far, i believe i have gotten the ear of good friends of mine, jason landry, kim chen (not a picture of her, but she can do this kind of thing. it's awesome), rob (and mina) kim, and perhaps ashtar zubair.

current places to hit up: lisbon, barcelona, paris, amsterdam, istanbul, athens, venice, rome, zurich, london, dublin, berlin, vienna, prague, kiev, nice, monaco (start of the tour de france)
new ones since initial brainstorm: cinque terra, florence, pompeii, normandy, salzburg, somewhere in the alps to camp and hike as well
ones i might drop: istanbul, lisbon, kiev

i will be gallivanting from may 20 to july 23, and a warm-up will occur in las vegas on the may 15-17 weekend. come on out and join in the fun. derek bideshi will be there on a stag, but i'm sure we'll whoop it up vancouver style.
