initial scheduling, u2, gps

we have determined a preliminary travel schedule for the time period up until rich leaves to head back to toronto for work. steve and i were talking about how this will be a sad day and that we'll have to take rich out for one last night of mayhem as a send-off. in fact, it may be so epic that rich will miss his flight and just decide to hangout until the rest of us have to leave.

HOWEVER - a wrench has been thrown into the plan (albeit a good wrench) with the announcement of u2's world tour that will start in barcelona on june 30th.

as such, we will be rejigging our schedule to try and hit that up and so i am not bothering with posting our travel plans for now (as long as we can get tickets... i hate scalpers and historically they have snapped up a lot of the tickets not taken by fanclub members). speaking of fanclub members, anyone out there that would be able to score us 4 tickets for the barcelona opener?

paris on july 11 also sounds good... maybe two shows?

JUST IN NOW: kim chen wants in for barcelona show. guess that means that if we get tickets, she now knows what timeframe she'll be with us in europe...

COME ON! (feature title... we'll see how long this lasts...)
for this post, i am also starting a feature where i list all of the things said by rich, steve and myself that, when taken out of context (like here) seem like rather inappropriate things to say. for that matter, even in context they could be entirely inappropriate:
1. nusbaum: "i bite"
2. pak: "rail it for the backend"

context? ok, for nusbaum's comment, it was something along the lines of us picking on him over an email discussion for a case we are working on, and him effectively telling us to back off because he bites... see? even in context it sounds inappropriate.

for pak's, we were talking about euro-rail and cheap flights and other travel options for getting around europe and we were talking about perhaps using the eurorail system for the latter half of his trip. but still... come on! poor choice of words.

and yes, i have said nothing appropriate since the last post.

now for the tech geeks reading, there is FINALLY an iphone app that will enable your iphone to function as a REAL GPS device. currently only maps for the US are available but by the end of this quarter, canada and europe should be available for downloading. just in time... as some of my friends back in vancouver know, i am notorious for being geographically inept and not being able to make my way around without someone explicitly telling me where to go. in fact, a few years ago driving across north america with my buddy chad, he claims he had to sleep with one eye open while i was driving to ensure that i didn't get us lost... i think he exagerrates. although he has a slight point there. btw, side note, he runs ultra-marathons (100 mile races... straight. so it takes like 24 hours or so sometimes more). he is crazy like that.

thanks also to those that took part in the poll i tried out last time. apparently people get the impression that we will be at each other's throats pretty soon.

... ok, i just realised that could be taken out of context too.

  1. I'm crossing my fingers that you don't get assaulted by any aggressive Greek women while you are in Europe. At least you have GPS if we need to send in the commandos to get you out.
