day 46 nice - biarritz (guethary... over night train)

kim left today for amsterdam

phil, andree and i hiked up the tower that andree and i had failed at last night and then tried to go kayaking but it looked like the promenade des anglais was getting shut down for the 1st stage of the tour. we asked around, and surprisingly, official looking people did not know if there would be a pedestrian crossing or not.


turns out there is... the car tunnel labelled monaco-menton was switched to pedestrian traffic for the tour.

so instead we hung out at blue beach. phil left to hit switzerland and nusbaum and i got spots to watch the tour go by. andree came back with lunch and fruit and we chatted with an english couple who didn't know the tour was coming through til after they booked their holiday! lucky them. and then the lead pack of 4 and the peloton wizzed by... and everyone left... but it was super cool.

we then went sea kayaking which was awesome. nusbaum took off to go roaming and andree and i stayed at beach a bit, then hit b&b to shower. then she took me our for a lovely drink and snack at "castel" where i proceeded to barrage her about the 3 things she got me for upcoming 32nd bday.


back at hotel and then i walked andree to the train station. met back up with nusbaum, got fruit for tomorrow morning after crap traing brekky (come to think of it, i don't think we'll even get that). i reshowered and then off to station for us. we got another 6 person cabin... but luckily there were only 3 of us in there. i actually managed to fall asleep despite the espresso an coke!


other: inability to buy stamps to canada at 5 or so tabacs! wtf?!
